Description
Camp Oglethorpe, located near Macon, was a rebel prison facility that housed U.S. military officers. The camp did not suffer from the overcrowding that the enlisted facility in Andersonville, GA faced. One officer was killed by a rebel sentinel for crossing the dead line. The camp was located on the former county fair grounds.
