Description
The Confederate Armory occupied forty-three acres of land bordered by the Macon and Western Railroad, Calhoun, Hazel and Lamar Streets. The armory was primarily responsible for weapon manufacturing and repair. Their first tasks were to repair two thousand gunstocks. With work steadily increasing, the armory had a workforce of 136 in the armory by January 1863.
